Right now there are 12 separate Dropbox processes running on my Mac. There are 185 apps in my /Applications/ folder, just as a point of reference.įor those who don’t use it, the ‘joke’ here is that Dropbox runs a lot nf processes. That’s a total of 27 (unique) apps, ~12 of which I use regularly. The ones marked with a * are the ones that I use often enough for it to be annoying. These are all the ones that I have installed, and therefore use at least occasionally. I read the chip's contents and, sure enough, it was erased - except for some areas. It also recognised the BIOS chip I connected to it, which was marvellous - it means it's able to communicate with the chip without any problems. It was really fast, I just needed to apt-get some library dev versions. Next, I needed to download and compile flashrom. I then soldered this cable to the prototyping shield I use and made a cable which'd connect it to the proper SPI&power pins. The header had 2MM spacing between pins, but I bought a corresponding connector for this and soldered a ribbon cable with proper spacing to it. The motherboard (MSI FM2-A75MA-P33) had a SOIC SPI flash chip which was soldered on, but all the pins were available on a header, pinout for which seemed to be already reverse-engineered and available on the Internet. I've heard good things about FlashROM, it's a pretty versatile package which is open-source and supports many programming platforms, including Raspberry Pi. Furthermore, I just got a task to re-flash a BIOS on a motherboard, so I had some additional motivation to make me a tool that does it. Just got it two days ago, but like any honeymoon period it hasn't left my hands much.I sometimes need to read and write SPI flash memory chips. The notch doesn't bother me, especially when comparing to the bezels on the 7 Plus. I don't miss the battery %, but do miss the bluetooth connected icon. True tone for me has worked well and I see noticeable shifts if I move from fluorescent lighted workbench (where these photos were taken) to under the natural skylight above kitchen island. I do notice the 7 Plus getting darker at those angles. I don't notice much color shift with true tone on at slight angles. Using accessibility to tweak the text is a tremendous help and will at least let me consider keeping the X longer through the extended return period. I see slightly less text due to width, but if I had not had the 7 Plus I might never had missed it. Slightly smaller photo presentations in social media, Flipboard etc. To sum it up, the slight change to font size seems to help me in all apps such as noted above where dynamic scaling is supported. Photos courtesy of my wife's iPhone 7.Īlso important to note that the fluorescent light fixture above my workbench was creating reflections/glare, so I'm holding my left arm over the camera to eliminate them from the screens. Also, brightness slider is set to 50% as best I can for both phones for all pics. For the pics, both phones are in the same case (Speck Presidio Sport). But I realized it's honeymoon period constant use and text more than anything, in my most commonly used apps which are messages, mail, Facebook, Google Maps. I get my massages at my hometown Stockbridge office. It sucks that I have to split my massages and face treatments. This location has always had great ones! And now, with the lighting enhancement treatments, I drive over 35 minutes past a Massage Envy by me to get my face treatments done. I wore one, and the man preceded to touch me barely. I told them I just asked so that I would know if I needed to wear one. Another time, I asked if they were going to wear a mask (some did this last year), and I was met with attitude. I literally couldn't walk! I got a lawyer to sue. Instead, I called my husband, who is a doctor, to get me. They had to give me Tylenol and ask if they needed to call 911. I ended up telling him to stop, but it was too late. For instance, I came in two years ago and said I wanted a Swedish Massage the therapist said, "Oh, so you fancy." Then, I began to knead my back with so much pressure (even though I said stop) that it was almost abuse. Each time, I am met with therapists who refuse to give me the service I deserve. The massages have always had disastrous consequences. I have received services there about four times prior to this visit. 2-microglobulin (B2M blood serum) A protein made by malignant (cancerous) myeloma cells that can help to show how much cancer is in your body. Their base critical hit chance starts at 15% - higher than attainable for ranged weapons with the recent damage bonus maxed out - and their recent damage bonus scales from 0% to 45%, meaning a player that has done 800 damage or more in the last 20 seconds has a melee critical hit rate of 60%.Īmong those weapons that trigger randomly, critical hit probability is determined differently based on the type of weapon. Melee weapons are designed to critical hit far more often than ranged ones in order to encourage their usage at close range. As a result, the highest natural critical hit chance attainable is 12%. For example, if the player has dealt 200 damage in the past 20 seconds, the additional bonus percentage is 2.5% and so the overall critical hit chance is 4.5%. This is modified by a bonus percentage based on how much damage the player has done in the last 20 seconds, which scales from 0% at 0 damage to 10% at 800 damage. The base critical hit chance for standard weapons is 2%. If both a mini-crit and full critical hit occur with the same attack, the critical hit overrides the mini-crit. This means that team coordination is required if multiple players have ways to increase their critical hit output, or extra damage is wasted. For example, the Frontier Justice's "Revenge" critical hits do not deal any additional damage if the Engineer is ÜberCharged by a Kritzkrieg, nor does a player marked for death and coated in Jarate suffer more than standard mini-crits. The kill feed icon for a critical hit surrounds the weapon icon with a red glow.Ĭritical hits and mini-crits do not stack in any form - that is, meeting multiple conditions to earn a critical hit or a mini-crit do not deal any more than the normal damage boost. When a player is killed by a critical hit, the class lets out a loud scream that differs from ordinary non-melee deaths, unless the class was gibbed (in which case they let out a larger "ouch" noise than explosive kills usually cause). The extra damage is of the "critical" type instead of matching the weapon's original type, meaning it cannot be resisted by the Vaccinator's normal healing or Upgrade Station buffs - though this also allows other mechanics to target critical damage specifically, such as the Battalion's Backup and the Vaccinator's ÜberCharge, which fully neutralize the extra damage. As a result, weapons that are normally merely nuisances at long range (such as Miniguns) can become dangerous when critical hitting. Self-inflicted critical hits do not deal critical damage to the user, but still play the sound effect.Ĭritical hits deal three times the base damage of the weapon and ignore both the distance modification and the random damage modification of normal shots, though explosive weapon critical hits still suffer from splash damage fall-off. These visual effects are accompanied by a crackling electric sound upon firing and receiving a critical hit. Most melee weapons have a unique swinging animation, projectiles such as rockets or stickybombs have a team-colored glow and sparkle effect (exemptions are the Cow Mangler 5000, the Righteous Bison, and the Pomson 6000), bullets have team-colored trails, and flamethrowers produce additional team-colored particles. Buildings are immune to both types.Ĭritical hits can be easily distinguished from normal hits. Players on the receiving end of the attack have the words "CRITICAL HIT!!!" in green, or "MINI-CRIT!" in yellow, respectively, appear above their head. For example, the Steam TF2 stats page still uses the original group photo, as seen to the upper-right, to represent the game.Critical hits, also known as crits or full crits, are attacks that do extra damage and have distinctive sound effects when fired and upon hitting a target. Because of how prominent many of these images were, they are still used on some websites when referencing the game. The images from the pre-release version of the current iteration of Team Fortress 2 were usually sourced from in-game screenshots or screen captures taken from Trailer 2 and Meet the Heavy. These images often reflect outdated and older designs of characters, maps, and weapons, as well as gameplay concepts. Part of the advertising for Team Fortress 2 included the use of promotional images, many of which were derived from pre-release iterations of the game, thus reflecting differences such as the roofless bridge version of 2Fort. Hydrogen is emerging as an interesting alternative fuel, even though we are slow in developing a truly “green” way of manufacturing it. New, so-called solid-state batteries are being developed that should charge more quickly and could be about a third of the weight of the current ones – but they are years away from being on sale, by which time, of course, we will have made millions of overweight electric cars with rapidly obsolescing batteries. Unsurprisingly, a lot of effort is going into finding something better. It seems a perverse choice of hardware with which to lead the automobile’s fight against the climate crisis. How so? The problem lies with the lithium-ion batteries fitted currently to nearly all electric vehicles: they’re absurdly heavy, huge amounts of energy are required to make them, and they are estimated to last only upwards of 10 years. In advance of the Cop26 climate conference in Glasgow in 2021, Volvo released figures claiming that greenhouse gas emissions during production of an electric car are nearly 70% higher than when manufacturing a petrol one. But if you zoom out a bit and look at a bigger picture that includes the car’s manufacture, the situation is very different. Electric cars, of course, have zero exhaust emissions, which is a welcome development, particularly in respect of the air quality in city centres. The problem with the initiative is that it seems to be largely based on conclusions drawn from only one part of a car’s operating life: what comes out of the exhaust pipe. When you start to drill into the facts, electric motoring doesn’t seem to be quite the environmental panacea it is claimed to be.Īs you may know, the government has proposed a ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030. Electric vehicles may be a bit soulless, but they’re wonderful mechanisms: fast, quiet and, until recently, very cheap to run. I bought my first electric hybrid 18 years ago and my first pure electric car nine years ago and (notwithstanding our poor electric charging infrastructure) have enjoyed my time with both very much. Combine this, perhaps surprising, academic pathway with a lifelong passion for the motorcar, and you can see why I was drawn into an early adoption of electric vehicles. My first university degree was in electrical and electronic engineering, with a subsequent master’s in control systems. Electric motoring is, in theory, a subject about which I should know something. |
